Pressed willow leaves.

tophatleaves007At the same time I had leaves from my living sculpture I have called ‘top hat’ that were varying degrees of a bright yellow. I decided in the same vein that these should also go in the press. Again the colour had faded, but other interesting things had happened. Where I had made a number of layers containing willow leaves, the more robust parts of the leaves have embossed there shape through the layers whilst at the same time leaching colour into the paper. I find the effect quite interesting. It has an ethereal quality, hinting at what has been there. This was also on kitchen roll. I might try and make some samples using watercolour paper, perhaps other papers too, before all the leaves are finally blown away for this year.
