Now you see it, now you don’t.

willowmonsterIt has intrigued me recently what and how people perceive what is around them. This photo shows the large willow structure which is now leaning on the wall of our house. It had been growing in our garden, at the front of the house, for 6 or more years until we cut it down in December. Every year I had woven in the branches to create new shapes, but it is only since it has been cut that people have started to comment on it and ask ‘what is it?’ It is as if the act of cutting it has made it into something different, an object, now worthy of comment. Many of these people will have walked past it everyday for years and said nothing. Interesting in terms of how to make your art visible.
