Revisiting root drawing.

DSCN0145I knew there was something about this drawing which appealed to me so was keen to revisit it and explore its potential further. I isolated an area using Photoshop, then used a cut-out filter to accentuate the shapes within it.

Really, I then just played around with it. I quite like the idea of repetition, so made a stencil out of acetate, then tried repeating this on paper using gouache. I quite like the effect of the positive and negative image next to each other. I found some of the shapes that were cut from the stencil were of interest themselves, effectively the negative shapes. I explored the potential in the repetition of these shapes in various ways.  I liked the results of some of this work and will explore its potential further.
