Drawing Exercise- Still Life.

sunflowersop.jpg                                                                                                                                                       Before starting these drawing exercises I spent quite a lot of time trying to establish a more rigorous routine to my drawing practice and extending the amount of time I would spend on each drawing. I had not initially intended that my still life would be a vase of flowers and had been exploring various subjects, but then making a drawing of the flowers in graphite pencil took me to a point where I felt I could go no further. So, I decided to go bigger and use charcoal in order to try and achieve a greater range of tones.

This drawing is on A2 sized paper and took approximately 3 ½ hrs to make.
